Prometheus awarded the Elbehafen LNG Project with high-performance fire-protection solutions. The supply is expected in March-April 2025.

The production and storage of LNG have become critical for Germany in the current energy landscape, following the loss of primary Russian gas supplies.

However, the lack of established pipelines and the necessity of advanced industrial infrastructure such as Floating Gas Regasification Unit (FSRU) can pose risks of fire and explosion due to the nature of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) and the processes involved in its regasification.

Prometheus, in collaboration with Worley, has recently awarded the passive fire protection of valve actuators for Elbehafen liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal - located offshore in the port city of Brunsbüttel, in Germany - safer.

This terminal is part of the "Elbehafen LNG Project Phase II", which will be soon expanded in multiple phases to reach full FSRU capacities that can feed up to 7.5 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas into the gas grid.

The project utilizes the 300-meter-long vessel Höegh Gannet, which has a storage capacity of up to 170,000 cubic meters of LNG, and a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) that facilitates the import of large amounts of LNG. The project aims to enhance Germany's energy resilience by enabling LNG imports and supporting a transition to a more secure and diverse energy landscape.

As part of this project, Prometheus is going to measure, design, manufacture & install Worley ProFlex Jet Fire for offshore environments, designed specifically to ensure fire containment in high-risk areas and protect these critical valves. These custom-designed systems meet stringent safety and technical standards, which allows to ensure the operational reliability and safety of the regasification process, storage tanks, and associated facilities.
